Fresno County residents apply through the county's resident process and follow the Sheriff's Office instructions for each required stage.

Step by step
Identify whether you are applying as a Fresno County resident or as an out-of-state/non-resident applicant. Your applicant type determines which fingerprint pathway applies.

California requires an in-person live-fire qualification. The online course covers the classroom portion, not the range qualification.

Training's role
Online coursework addresses the classroom and educational portion of California CCW training where permitted. The initial course is generally a minimum of 16 hours, while renewal training is generally a minimum of 8 hours under the current Fresno process.
